Vivian Delgado is originally from what was once known as Taos Territory. Today it is called southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. She descends from two pueblo nations: Tewa Pueblo from her mother and Yaqui from her father. Her family has lived continuously in Taos Territory for over 500 years.

Daily she tries to develop, and thus balance, her innate awareness and knowledge of the natural world by allowing it to permeate her very being. From a very young age she believes she has had a personal relationship with the Sun and knows of the natural world from situating herself in that relationship. Having lived in different regions and among different indigenous nations throughout her life, she believes that her true identity and strength come from the southwest.
